Hang your OVER'N'OUT® on a smooth surface away from direct heat.
In the event of a stovetop fire, SAFELY turn off the burner first, without reaching over the flames.
With the decorated side facing you, grasp the dowel in one hand and the opposite end of the OVER'N'OUT® in the other hand.
Approach the fire with
the OVER'N'OUT® held
at an angle with the lower side as low as the base of the fire.
In one continuous motion move the lower side of the OVER'N'OUT® to the nearest edge of the fire, rotating the upper side down to cover the fire, thus sweeping the flames away from you.
Release the OVER'N'OUT® quickly. Rapidly remove your hands from the vicinity of the fire. CAUTION: Flames may escape from the sides of the OVER'N'OUT®!
Do
not attempt to reposition the
OVER'N'OUT® as reignition may occur. Leave your OVER'N'OUT® in
place
until
all smoke is gone and the pan has cooled completely.
Retreat from the stove and call your local fire department. Remember: smoke can be more dangerous than flames!
Discard the OVER'N'OUT® after use, as the product can be used only once.
Cleanup of your stovetop can be accomplished easily as the grease reacts with the powder to form soap. The OVER'N'OUT® contains no harmful chemicals. The fire extinguishing powder is sodium bicarbonate.
The OVER'N'OUT® is not meant to replace, but to supplement a general purpose canister fire extinguisher.
